Construction, Demolition or Flooring: How to Choose the Right Air Cleaner for Your Project

Dustcontrol Air Cleaner to keep jobsite clean of silica dust onsite

Shop the range of All Preparation Equipment’s Air Purifiers and Air Scrubbers for Silica Dust Control.

Surface and floor preparation jobs tend to produce dangerous amounts of dangerous silica dust, which cause debilitating damage to a worker's lungs. This work hazard is the reason why domestic-grade air purifiers are just not up to the task.

To ensure your workers' safety and comply with safety standards, your site needs to have construction-grade air purifiers that can handle the specific size of your work area.

THE MOST HAZARDOUS DUST IS THE ONES WE CAN'T SEE.

These particles are so small that they are invisible to the naked eye, yet they cause major damage when they find their way far down into the lungs. Because the particles are so small, they can penetrate into the deepest parts of the pulmonary system where the air moves too slowly to be able to breathe them out again.

The lungs’ way of protecting themselves is to wrap the foreign particles in nodules of connective tissue, which, in time, leads to pneumoconiosis or COPD (Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease).

One example is Silica dust, which is spread when working with concrete, brick, plaster, and mortar. Often these particles cannot be broken down by the body and are also sharp, which is why they continue to cause damage long after they have become lodged in the lungs.

One of the best control measures is the use a AirCube high-efficiency air cleaners from All Preparation Equipment which will separate dust and particles even smaller than 0.3 micrometres, eliminating the risks of airborne dust onsite.

AN AIR PURIFIER FOR EVERY PROJECT.

Your choice of air cleaner will depend on the environment in which you work and how large the room is. Regardless of which one you choose, you can be sure of having a reliable machine with a HEPA filter, that won’t let you down on site.

Each air cleaner can be used on multiple site environments so it's important to consider the range of projects you could use it on before investing in one for the immediate task on hand. It's important to understand where and how best to use your Dustcontrol Air Purifier or Cleaner for a site which is why All Preparation Equipment is here to support you through the process.

The key to the success of any Air Cleaner is to have it positioned as close to the source of dust as possible which is where it can create stronger negative air pressure and drive the dust, dirt and particles to the floor / filter inlet area to then purify out as clean - safe air to be distributed anywhere on your site.

In the situation of a bathroom renovation, the most popular unit for tilers, carpenters and other trades or contractors working in these smaller areas or confined spaces is the DC500 Air Cleaner. This unit is well capable of controlling airborne dust on the average size approx 3 x 3m - considering the cubic calculation and other dust control measures you have in place.*

For bathroom renovations or these smaller confined spaces, it's often recommended that a flexible ducting length is paired with your AirCubbe to redirect the clean air out of the working area or sitting the air cleaner at the entrance / or doorway to begin as they are powerful units and helps make it more efficient when the clean air is driven away versus being put back into the working space.

The DC AirCube 500 has been developed for ease of use and durability. The fan unit is a radial blower, especially designed to build up high pressure across its entire flow range. This means that the unit generates a large amount of airflow during the entire lifetime of the filter. An exhaust hose can be used to create negative pressure in a sealed room. The fan has two-speed settings, which means that the unit can be run economically, for example on low speed during the night.

DUSTCONTROL DC1200 AIR PURIFIER

SUITABLE FOR CONSTRUCTION AND REFURBISHMENT PROJECTS

The DC AirCube 1200 is a highly efficient and robust air cleaner with the ability to clean the air even in large rooms, at a rate of up to 1660m3/h.
The encapsulated fan housing contains a radial blower-type fan that builds up high pressure across its entire flow range, which provides effective air cleaning for the entire lifetime of the filter.  The speed of the fan is also continuously variable in order to save energy when less dust is being created or to work at maximum efficiency when you have a lot of dust onsite. The DC AirCube 1200 is equipped with both a pre-filter and H13 HEPA filter for optimum dust control, as well as an integrated light that indicates when the filters need replacing for fuss free maintenance.

DUSTCONTROL AIR CLEANER DC2000

SUITABLE FOR CONSTRUCTION, DUST, AND DIRT IN RENOVATION

With a capacity of approximately 1800 m3/h the DC AirCube 2000 is Dustcontrol´s most powerful air cleaner which means you have less limitations controlling dust in large areas.

The DC AirCube 2000 has a robust, stainless-steel chassis and an encapsulated fan with a variable speed setting. With its ergonomic design and balanced transport wheels, it is easy to carry and transport. It can also be operated when positioned horizontally. The DC AirCube 2000 is equipped with both a pre-filter and H13 HEPA filter for optimum dust control, as well as an integrated light that indicates when the filters need replacing for fuss-free maintenance. If your looking for superior airborne dust control, the AirCube 2000 is by far your best investment.

In larger areas you can also run multiple units to effectively control dust. The below diagram shows the position of AirCube 500's in a smoking room. Running multiple units in the large area gets rid of the smoky haze and improves the air quality. Carbon filters are required to eliminate the odor although they were not used in this scenario as the smokers did not mind the smell. These units are often used in live fires by firefighters to eliminate the haze and improve visibility when checking for humans trapped or still inside the house or building.
