DUST PROOFING

Concrete floors in their natural form dust.

Concrete naturally dusts and powders from efflorescence when it settles on finished goods, pallet racking, and produce. Crete Colors International has been working for over 10 years, manufacturing a high quality, fast reacting, effective solutions for concrete floors.

Liquid densifiers are largely used to chemically harden, seal and dustproof any concrete floor surface. Sodium, Potassium and Lithium densifiers are designed to react chemically with the hydrated cement in concrete floors to densify the floor surface and permanently harden the floor.

By burnishing the floor or power scrubbing the floor after densifier application will help to produce a slightly shinier appearance as the chemical densifier reacts over time.

The typical application of these products is as a single coat applied approx. between 8 – 15m2/ litre depending on the concrete floor type and application in where the floor is used.

Sodium based densifier will take a longer time to react in some cases years to reach their full potential for concrete hardening, abrasion resistance and dustproofing.

Crete Colors International’s lithium silicate densifiers are all water based therefore are ecofriendly, great for the environment, odour free, harden the concrete helping it be more abrasion resistant, do not require clean up after application, eliminate concrete floor dusting, reduce porosity. Densifiers do not work to make the concrete stain-proof and provide spill or acid resistance.

Common dustproofing and densifying applications;

  • Warehouses
  • Distribution plants
  • Storage silos
  • Sewage plants
  • Industrial sheds
  • Chemical processing plants and factories
  • Refineries
  • Public areas, walkways, paths, and areas where there is heavy pedestrian floor traffic areas including civic centres, sports arenas, stadiums, hospitals, airports and museums
  • Commercial office buildings
  • Multilevel and highrise development carparks
  • Aircraft hangers, high performance workshops
  • Schools and universities
  • Retail stores
  • Automotive workshops
  • Sports & entertainment facilities
  • Ablution blocks, washrooms and plant rooms

Crete Colour Densifiers,

  • Dustproof the floor to protect against scratching and peeling
  • Provides tough, protected surfaces that won’t discolour
  • Improves light reflectance
  • Penetrate deep into the concrete floor surface to harden the surfaces
  • Help to make the floors more abrasion resistant
  • Ready to use right away
  • VOC-Compliant
  • Ensures floors are easier to clean

C2 Crete Colors Concrete densifiers and silicates react with the calcium hydroxide within the concrete floors to harden the concrete surface.

Lithium and Potassium liquid densifiers are not classified as sealers. However their properties help to ensure hardening of the concrete surface within approx. 3mm. They do not form a film or topping on the surface like you’ll find with a type of concrete floor coating, polyurethane or epoxy.

These materials allow your floor to be easier to maintain, being harder, and saving so much of the concrete dusting. They because part of the concrete floor surface and cannot be worn off like a traditional concrete floor coating, epoxy, acrylic, polyurethane or wax which is commonly used in concrete flooring applications.

Often in concrete warehouses, industrial projects and larger floors products including coatings, acrylics, polyurethanes and epoxies or waxes are used as a way to control dusting. It’s a well-known fact that often in these heavy duty, industrial environments coatings are really only a temporary protection and solution.

Larger warehouse floors and industrial concrete floors with a concrete floor coating are subject to higher wear resistance, scratching, marking, and delamination. Over time, these concrete floor coatings have to be replaced with another coat or the better alternative, densifying the floor to dust proof it.

When a concrete floor coating has to be replaced, the old concrete coating has to be ground back and removed, before then grinding the floors again (or shot blasting) depending on the traffic and concrete profile required, which involves downtime, materials and labour costs.

Crete Colors Densifiers include;

  • C2 Hard Blend
  • C2 Hard
  • C2 Super Hard
