BEST WAY TO GET RID OF STUBBORN WATERPROOFING MEMBRANE

Waterproofing removal from concrete surfaces can be a tough project. On a recent project, one of our customers was awarded the rectification of a filed waterproofing membrane for a residential high-rise apartment. A previous contractor had applied a membrane that had failed so needed to be removed, and the concrete prepared for a new system to be reapplied.

With the membrane being well bonded and all, it was surely a tough case to crack. With the Schwamborn 250mm Concrete Grinder the project was easier than ever, ripping the membrane off and back to bare concrete in the shortest possible time!

GET THE RIGHT PCD GRINDING SHOE FOR THE JOB

To ensure the best possible product with the concrete grinder the right selection of diamonds was critical. Using a RHINO II PCD diamond grinding shoe, the membrane could be effectively removed getting mostly back to bare concrete. For sections of the waterproofing membrane that were thicker, a follow-up on these with a 20-grit diamond was used to help rip off any excess product to ensure the concrete was clean and ready to reapply a new membrane.
