Here are the answers to some frequently asked questions about the system in view of helping you get set up quicker and keep your sites working efficiently during lockdown restrictions.

WHAT IS THE RECOMMENDED SPACE BETWEEN POLES WHEN SETTING UP A WALL OR INTERNAL ROOM?

The poles can be spaced between 3m and 4m apart if there is little or no air movement. In areas where the air movement may be stronger such as being exposed to an opening outside, on a balcony, or where air-conditioning is present – the Zipwall spring-loaded poles should be placed closer to one another.

Onsite where there may be strong air currents or gusts of wind putting pressure on the dust barrier or privacy screen you have created with the poles you may need to have the poles as close as 1.5m – 2m apart.

HOW DOES THE ZIPWALL SYSTEM WORK WITH NEGATIVE AIR PRESSURE SYSTEMS OR AIR SCRUBBERS ONSITE?

The Zipwall system was originally designed for applications using negative air and handles these systems very well. Because negative air pressure creates pressure against the plastic, it tends to tug on the poles. Because of these, you may need to put the poles closer together to hold the plastic securely in place and ensure it doesn’t sag between the poles.
With moderate pressure, you will find that the spacing of 2m – 2.5m between poles is a suitable range.

For very high-pressure situations or where there are multiple negative air pressure units or air cleaners being used onsite, the poles may need to be positioned closer to up to 1.5m apart.

CAN THE ZIPWALL POLES BE USED OUTDOORS?

Zipwall requires a ceiling space to apply pressure to. Because of this, it can be used in areas such as verandahs, balconies, or pergolas as they mostly have ceilings or something for it to hold up too. It should not be used if there are high winds. This can cause damage or result in injury and we suggest using caution. 

WHAT ARE THE WORKING HEIGHT RANGES OF THE STANDARD AND SUPER-TALL ZIPWALL POLES?

The working height range of the standard Zipwall poles is from 1.4m to 3.8m. The working height of a Super Tall Zipwall Pole is 1.6m to 6.1m making it the best option for working areas where high ceilings or a warehouse space up to that size requires a temporary barrier or enclosure.

HOW MUCH DOES A ZIPWALL POLE WEIGH?

Each standard pole weighs under 700 grams. The Super-Tall pole weighs up to 1.5kg. This lightweight makes carrying multiple poles accessories to and from the job site very convenient.

CAN I CLEAN THE NON-SKID PLATES ON THE SPRING-LOADED POLE?

Spring-loaded poles have a non-skid plate that sits at the base of the pole to ensure no movement when on site. To clean them is an easy process and best done with soap and water and a light scrubbing pad, these plates can also be run through a dishwasher.
